Published 12 months ago • 2 min read

Hi Friends,

I'm writing this issue with an exciting heart, there’s so much I want to share. Today’s MindSwitch Mondays is a summary of the ten premises of the future of education I’ve been exploring for the past year.

When we think about education we need to understand that its main purpose is to empower individuals with knowledge, skills, and values to help them reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.

We want our kids to thrive in their future, right?

But, we live in a world that is constantly changing, the workforce is changing, the needs are changing, and technology is changing. What our kids need to develop in order to thrive in this world is also changing.

So what can we do as parents to complement our kids' learning so they can thrive in this constantly changing world?

This is what I have been exploring these past year. This is what I would like you to take away from my newsletter, and hopefully share it with more parents to support more kids in their learning!

Let’s dive in!

Emotional growth through social understanding, But also learning through emotional growth. When we prioritize our socio emotional wellbeing we feel supported, confident, and motivated, enhancing our learning capacity. Learn how to support your kids in their socio-emotional development.

Embrace diversity, foster inclusivity. Diversity brings together perspectives, experiences, and ideas, fostering an inclusive and dynamic environment that stimulates critical thinking, creativity, and cultural understanding, preparing us to thrive in an interconnected world.

Promoting global awareness fosters understanding, empathy, and interconnectedness. Global awareness broadens our understanding of different cultures, perspectives, and global issues, fostering empathy, promoting critical thinking, and equipping us to be active and responsible global citizens. Learn strategies to support your kid’s global awareness development.

Empowers minds, shapes informed decisions. Critical thinking empowers us to question, analyze, and evaluate information, fostering independent thought and problem-solving skills that enable us to make informed decisions and navigate the complexities of the world. Learn strategies on how to support your kids in developing critical thinking at home.

Our kid’s world is already integrated with technology. New generations don’t know what a world without screens was like. Kids in today’s world are growing up with technology and there is no turning back. In this piece I my view on technology and how we can support kids to balance the use of it.

The future of education is exciting, and as parents, our involvement is crucial. By staying informed about advancements, methodologies, and technologies, we can enhance our children's learning experiences.

One of the most common questions I get from parents is, “Will my kid fall behind if I don’t keep them engaged in academics during summer?” Children need to have a break and enjoy their summer vacation. But the first thought that pops into my head is mindswitching from thinking that we need to keep our kids engaged in academics, to thinking about continuous learning. The Summer Slide is real. The summer slide refers to the tendency for students to lose some of their academic progress over the...

“What do I do, Mom?” My daughter kept asking me this question as we talked about a situation she kept having with her sister. “You know what to do, take a step back, think about your feelings, reach out to your sister to express your concerns, and consider what limits you need to set. SEL stands for Social and Emotional Learning....
